We think it can be said without fear of contradiction that the 2021 Cradley Christmas Fair was a great success after an absence from the calender of village events. With one eye on the weather forecast over the preceding days the organisers had the perpetual will it won’t it question on their minds. Fortunately the gods smiled down and provided a crisp, rain free and partially sunny winters day. Stalls were erected and hall laid out by a small but willing army of volunteers to await those plying their wares for the delight of the large number of people who passed through the historic Lych-gate to seek the offerings.Hot mulled wine was available from the bar on the patio, whilst teas, coffee, hot home made soup and chips were available from the hall kitchen and burgers and dogs from the BBQ on the Church lawn. The raffle and tombola stalls did great business along with the children’s toys and games stall. Someone bagged the bargain of the day with a magnificent donated wooden dolls house and fittings for someone’s Christmas present.Upstairs father Christmas spent the whole time meeting a steady stream of excited youngsters armed with their Christmas wish lists. A surprise this year was they were greeted on their way to Santa’s ice cave by Elsa and Anna.
All in all a great day was had by everyone attending and a congratulations to Cradley Village Hall and the fair committee and volunteers for staging a great comeback event. Cradley Village Hall is a charity formed to look after our magnificent village hall and is funded by such events and are proud to have raised an outstanding £1552 for the charity ( slightly down on 2019 of £1990) despite the covid restrictions in placeWELL DONE to everyoneWe look forward to next year when everything gets back to nearer normal
